When did you start your kitesurfing career?

Kiteboarding I started in 2007 and I absolutely love it. I spend lots of time on the water. I grew up at the northern boarder of the Alps, and as a kid and teen I have been skiing every day for half of the year - and now I do the similar thing on the water. Teaching has always been a passion of mine and I concentrate on the sports psychology side of teaching kitesurfing in Cape Town.

Explain your favourite kitesurfing trick

I almost don't dare to say: My favourite tricks are still very high jumps with board grabs.

Explain the kitesurfing trick you are working on now

Raileys and other unhooked tricks and carving waves.

What is your favourite kitesurfing spot?

My absolute favourite kitesurfing spot is Sunset Beach, Cape Town. Not because it is directly on our doorstep of Kitekahunas, but because it has the best wind in Cape Town - and with this it is therefore the best wind in the world from October till April, but also the most constant and clean waves and flat water in between.

What are the other sports/hobbies you practise next to kitesurfing?

There are very few sports that I have not done in my life. I enjoyed most mountain hiking, scuba diving and skiing, but now kiteboarding is the definite crown.

My favourite trick at the moment is unhooked kiteloops, where you really feel the power of the kite.
