Frequently Asked Questions

What is special about Cape Town and kitesurfing in cape town?

People say that Cape Town is the most beautiful city in the world. Why is this? Cape Town is the only city in the world located on two oceans. It lies between the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean, beautifully surrounded by mountains. In the center of the city rises Table Mountain and Lions Head. Both are actually nature reserves and offer excellent mountain trips with magnificent views over Cape Town and the Oceans.

The city is rather wealthy, with expensive residential areas and beautiful houses, many overlooking the sea. Most people are equally pretty, the rich and beautiful feel at home in what they call the mother city of South Africa . Whether you are looking for an outstanding restaurant on Camps Bays' wonderful beach front, or you may be ready for a party in one of the numerous clubs and pubs in the city or in one of the suburbs - you can be sure you will be fascinated, as this city never sleeps. Models and mannequins mix here with businessmen, politicians, sportsmen, students and tourist from all over the world. All of them enjoy the excellent warm weather and the sun of Africa in this exciting city. So the perfect place for your holiday and for kitesurfing in Cape Town.

What about the Wind in Cape Town?

Europeans usually think that strong wind is naturally linked to cold and bad weather. Not so in Cape Town. The wind here is legendary. Probably stronger and more reliable than anywhere else in the world. Perfect for kitesurfing in Cape Town. This is why the ancient sailors have called it the "Cape of Good Hope". Whenever their ships came near the notorious Cape, only hope and prayer could help not to become shipwrecked ... because of Cape Town's strong wind.

In Cape Town sun, perfect weather and wind go hand in hand together. It is the famous South Easter (Cape Doctor) that comes undisturbed for thousands of kilometers over the ocean just to provide you with a steadily powered kite. That is why many go kitesurfing in Cape Town.

Cold water in Cape Town?

Sometimes people think that the ocean around Cape Town is cold. Is this actually the case?

Let's have a closer look at the facts. First of all it is important to know that probably no other kiteboarding region in the world is so multi-facetted and diverse as in and around Cape Town. This city is the only one in the world located at two Oceans. The Indian Ocean is warm and its warm waters stream from the Equator southwards along the South African coast. So the water at all beaches and kite spots in the Indian Ocean are around 25 ° Celsius.

Then there are lagoons, such as the lagoon in Langebaan north of Cape Town with the sun heating up the flat water. On some kite spots, however, such as at the legendary Kitebeach in Table View and famous Big Bay (both are about 10 km north of Cape Town at Bloubergstrand), you will however need a good wetsuit to protect you from the cold water of the Atlantic Ocean. But you will get used to it and the strong wind and spectacular waves will make you forget the water temperature very soon when kitesurfing in Cape Town.
